I’m an engineer. I build machine learning systems end to end: the solution itself, the infrastructure it runs on, and the frontend people actually touch. A system only works when someone has thought about all three.

The details other people skip are usually the ones that matter. Nothing gets built on top of something I don’t understand from the ground up; a problem worth doing properly gets redesigned rather than patched around; anything worth knowing gets derived once instead of memorised twice.

That habit doesn’t switch off at six. I take apart an espresso extraction the same way I take apart a training pipeline, and write down what I learn on the way. The rest of the week is ordinary enough: the gym, something slow on the stove, a grinder that gets adjusted more often than it needs to. Diving and the long rides happen when the year makes room for them.
