Each topic is a branch. A post in progress is a feature being developed on its branch: an open commit ahead of main, with nothing merged back. Publishing is the merge. A lane is only drawn where it has work, so the graph shows what was actually in flight when.
On learn/ each lesson is a branch: it opens the day its draft starts and merges the day it is finished. Release comes later and is marked on its own, so a lesson that is finished but not yet live says so. The lessons themselves are read at /learn.
